Hosting Guidelines – Youth and Level I Umpire Clinic

Both clinics will be a two-part training model consisting of:

  1. Online Learning (Asynchronous)
  2. In-Person Activity-Based Training (4 hours)
*Completion of both components is required for clinic certification.

Online Learning Component:

All registered participants will complete the required online learning modules prior to attending the in-person clinic.

In-Person Activity-Based Training: (Host Responsibilities)

The in-person clinic will now be a four-hour, activity-focused session emphasizing on-field instruction, practical drills, and scenario-based learning.

As a result, host requirements have changed as follows:

  • Hosts are required to provide a suitable activity space (e.g., field, gymnasium, or similar area appropriate for on-field instruction).
    • If using a gymnasium, it is recommended that:
      • Single Gym – 20 Participants max
      • Double Gym – 40 Participant max

These adjustments are intended to reduce logistical demands on host organizations while aligning facilities with the practical nature of the training.

Increased Hosting Flexibility:

Host associations may choose to:

  • Schedule back-to-back clinics over a weekend
    • If offering a back-to-back clinic, must provide a 1-hour break for instructors to reset.
  • Offer clinics during evening or weeknight time slots

When applying to host, organizations must specify which program the clinic will cover for Level 1 clinics:

  • Slo-Pitch
  • Fast Pitch
